The government is working to reopen closed jute mills across the country in Narsingdi, the State Minister for Textiles and Jute said.

State Minister for Textiles and Jute Shariful Alam said that the government is working to reopen closed jute mills across the country as per the election manifesto and promise. The jute mills will be reopened under any management, whether government or non-government.

He told reporters after visiting the Palash Cooperative Jute Mill in Narsingdi on Tuesday (April 21).

At the same time, the state minister also said that closed factories across the country, including the two in Narsingdi, will be reopened in phases. Domestic and foreign entrepreneurs are being attracted to these factories so that employment can be created. Due to the closures during the previous government, several people became unemployed. The current government is a government of the people, so this government is committed to the welfare of the people and their employment.

Also present during the inspection were BGMC Chairman, Brigadier General Md. Kabir Uddin Sikder, Chief Operating Officer Mamnur Rashid, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Textiles and Jute Subrata Sikder and various officials.
