A protest meeting was held in front of the Bholahat Press Club on Wednesday at 11 am (6 May 2026) to protest the terrorist attack on Md. Tarique Rahman of Channel One and Md. Tarique Aziz of My TV in Chapainawabganj and the failure of the police to arrest the attackers.
The protest meeting was presided over by Md. Shariful Islam Sharif, Vice President and Senior Journalist of Bholahat Press Club, and was attended by Md. Mainul Islam, Founder of the Press Club, Md. Shah Kabir and BM Rubel Ahmed. Among others, office secretary Md. Selim Reza Mukta, journalists Md. Rabiul Islam, Md. Aminul Islam Army, Md. Sahibul Islam, SM Sajib Hossain, Md. Yakub Hossain, newspaper agent Md. Matiur Rahman, Press Club Peon Md. Shamshuddin Garibul and others.
At the meeting organized by the Bholahat Journalists’ Society, the journalists said, “We journalists are the mirror of the conscience of the nation. If we try to break that mirror and those involved in this heinous incident, colleagues Tarique Rahman and Tarique Aziz, they demand that they be brought under the law immediately and given appropriate and severe punishment.”

The meeting also said, “We work tirelessly for the government and the people without pay. And the attack by terrorists on a journalist on duty is undoubtedly despicable. Therefore, we, the Journalists’ Society, strongly condemn and protest the terrorist attack and demand fair trial from the concerned higher authorities, and if not, strict action will be taken later.”
It is worth mentioning that on Thursday night, around 10 pm, Tarique Rahman, the district correspondent of Daily Amar Desh and Channel War, and Tarique Aziz, the My TV correspondent, were ambushed by a group of people, including a rabbi, an accused in multiple cases, while they were having tea in the Baten Khan More area of the district town.
