A miscreant entered a jewellery shop in Darshana, Chuadanga, disguised as a customer and stabbed and injured a businessman in broad daylight.
The incident took place at around 3:30 pm today (September 9) at the old market intersection of Darshana Municipality. Locals quickly rescued the injured businessman and took him to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital.
The injured businessman is Shri Sanjay Kumar Santara (35), son of Shri Sudhir Kumar Santara of Darshana Collegepara. Panic prevails in Darshana Old Market after the incident.
Locals said that a person wearing a mask and cap inside the shop first started bargaining for various gold ornaments. At one point, the unidentified person took out a sharp weapon from his bag and hit Sanjay on the head.
Hearing the screams, everyone ran and the miscreant quickly fled from there. Later, Sanjay was rescued from inside the shop in a bloody state and sent to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital.
Sanjay was immediately treated by the doctor on duty at the emergency department and sent home.
