A complaint has been filed against Abu Chamin Biswas, the headmaster of Narail Habkhali Hamidunechcha Secondary School, for making assistant teacher Jhuma Rani Bose sign forged attendance books even though she did not come to school.
On August 3, an assistant teacher of the same school, MM Asaduzzaman, filed a written complaint with the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education), Narail.
According to the complaint, assistant teacher Jhuma Rani Bose has been absent from school for a long time and collecting salary and allowances. Headmaster Abu Chamin Biswas has been granting medical leave to assistant teacher Jhuma Rani Bose for the past one year. Even Jhuma Rani Bose’s husband Amal Kumar Nag sometimes comes to the school and signs forged attendance books of the absent teacher during medical leave. The latest (27-31) July, 25 Jhuma Rani Bose signed forged attendance books even without going to school.
Kazi Imdadur Rahman, a guardian member of the school’s managing committee, said, “We have not seen assistant teacher Jhuma Rani Bose since she joined the new committee of the school.” When asked about this, the headmaster said that Jhuma Rani Bose comes on leave as per the rules.
Sixth grade student Noorani, seventh grade student Mou, eighth grade student Rimi Khanam, Irani, ninth grade students Abdur Rahim, Sakibul Hasan Hridoy, Rubel Sikder, Sadia, Morsalin, and tenth grade student Jihad, along with numerous students, said that they have not seen Jhuma Madam in the school for six/seven months and that she is on leave.
Several teachers, who did not want to be named, said that the headmaster has been arbitrarily giving Jhuma Madam leave for a long time with unethical benefits and has been making her sign forged signatures during the leave. If he could not please the headmaster, he would deduct the salary of some people due to their absence. However, for invisible reasons, he is giving illegal and immoral benefits to Jhuma Madam day after day.
Assistant teacher MM Asaduzzaman said that due to the arbitrariness and abuse of power of headmaster Abu Chamin Biswas, he is acting dishonestly for invisible reasons on the way to ruining the school. If he could not please the headmaster, he would deduct the salary of some people due to their absence and make the absent teacher sign the attendance book forged. Assistant teacher Jhuma Rani Bose has been on leave for a long time. During the leave, she signed the attendance book forgedly on April 27, April 30, May 4, May 29, June 22-23 and most recently (27-31) July.
Although he called assistant teacher Jhuma Rani on her mobile phone several times to talk to her about this, she did not answer the phone.
When asked about this, Head Teacher Abu Chamin Biswas said, “Assistant Teacher Jhuma Rani Bose, who has been ill for a long time due to human reasons, has been absent on the advice of the Upazila Secondary Education Officer. I have made Assistant Teacher Jhuma Rani Bose sign the latest attendance book.” Upazila Secondary Education Officer Md. Anwar Hossain denied the matter and said, “Head Teacher Abu Chamin Biswas came to me and I told him to talk to the managing committee.”
