A written complaint has been filed by the local residents against Maulana Abdul Aziz, the principal of Kadirabad Alim Madrasa in Kharua Union of Nandail Upazila of Mymensingh, with 14 specific allegations including unlimited irregularities, corruption, embezzlement, and arbitrariness, including Md. Rafiqul Islam, a former member of the Madrasa, and the Nandail Upazila Executive Officer.
The complaint received revealed that the said principal Md. Abdul Aziz took over the responsibility of the principal in 1996 under political influence. At that time, in connivance with the vice president of the institution, Md. Aminul Islam (former Kharua Union Chhatra League president), Abdul Aziz acted as the principal without the rules and committed various irregularities and corruption. Since becoming the principal, he has been running the institution as per his wishes by forming committees with influential people from his side. Since 2010, no elected governing body has served in this institution. Although there was an ad hoc committee twice in between, there is currently no committee.
During the past Corona period, the institution’s classrooms have been sold off and the tin house has been embezzled due to irregularities. For many years, the money for the tuition fees of the teachers has been continuously withdrawn and embezzled by the teachers without giving any money to them. A former vice-president, the above-mentioned Aminul Islam Malik, has registered the land of the deceased Abdur Mannan, the donor of the property in the name of the institution, in the name of the madrasa.
In addition, no teacher or guardian member has been informed about the property register of the institution. He has fraudulently embezzled various funds of the institution by creating various funds. He has withdrawn and embezzled the government’s allocated Tk 56,500 in the name of the institution. In 2021, he has embezzled Tk 230,000 in tuition fees. In 2025, he collected 1 lakh 83 thousand taka as tuition fee before Eid-ul-Adha and distributed the remaining money as little as possible. In 1995, Alim grabbed the post of principal of Madrasa in exchange for a large sum of money, even though he did not have the proper experience.
He did not have the proper educational qualifications for the post of principal of Madrasa. There are serious allegations that he signed month after month in one day without being present at the Madrasa. It is worth noting that the tenure of the current principal will end in December/2025. In this situation, he is trying to legalize all his illegal activities by forming an ad hoc committee with his favorites and relatives. Mental pressure and mistreatment of teachers in various ways is his daily work.
The complainant, Rafiqul Islam, said that on behalf of the local residents and guardians, he had sent copies of the 14-point complaint on August 25 to the Director General, Madrasa Education Directorate, Chairman, Bangladesh Madrasa Education Board, District Education Officer, Nandail Upazila Executive Officer and journalists. It is also worth noting that currently, 19 teachers/employees in this madrasa receive a government salary allowance of about 6 lakh taka per month. There are no students in the Ebtedayi branch. On August 31, 4/5 media workers from Nandail visited the madrasa and saw a total of 30 students present.
In this situation, he strongly demanded an urgent investigation into the matter and taking appropriate legal action against the corrupt principal.
