Chittagong City Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain said, “The best way to protect the eyes is to prevent diseases. Regular eye examinations and healthy eating habits can keep your eyesight good for a long time. We all need to be aware and develop healthy habits in our lifestyle. If the capable people of the society stand by the helpless people, many people will benefit from such free medical services.”
The mayor said this while speaking as the chief guest at a program to provide free eye care and cataract surgery to 209 people on Sunday, in collaboration with the Lions Club of Chittagong Batighar and managed by the Majhirghat Samaj Unnayan Parishad, on the occasion of the celebration of Miladunnabi.
The mayor emphasized the importance of regularly consuming vegetables, fruits, and vitamin-rich foods for eye care, saying, “If we are aware and develop healthy habits in our lifestyle, the risk of vision problems can be reduced to a large extent.” He also called on the capable people of the society to come forward and stand by the helpless people.
The camp organized in front of the house of late Naju Mia, Majhirghat, was presided over by Alhaj Nur Mohammad, President of Majhirghat Samaj Unnayan Parishad, and jointly hosted by Lion MA Musa Bablu, Member Secretary of Miladunnabi Celebration Sub-Committee and Publicity Secretary Nur Zahed Bablu. Lions District Governor Lion Moslehuddin Ahmed Apu was the inaugurator.
The Principal of the National Social Service Academy Mohammad Shahi Newaz, Chittagong Metropolitan BNP member Alhaj Joynal Abedin Zia, Haji Salauddin, Mosiul Alam Swapan, Lions Vice District Governor Mohammad Abu Bakkar Siddique, Lions Cabinet Secretary Lion Abu Morshed, General Secretary of Majhirghat Samaj Unnayan Parishad Ayaz Bahadur were present as special guests.
