Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has arrested a drug dealer along with 50 bottles of Phensedyl in a special operation in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar. On Wednesday (May 7) morning, members of the Sea-Beach BOP under the Teknaf Battalion (2 BGB) conducted the operation in the Hazampara area adjacent to Marine Drive Road.
According to BGB sources, based on secret information, it was reported that Indian narcotics were stored in a house in the Hazampara area for the purpose of smuggling to Myanmar. Based on this information, a BGB expeditionary team prepared for the operation late at night as planned by the Teknaf Battalion commander.
Later, at around 4:30 am on Wednesday, BGB members secretly took a strategic position in the Hazampara area and surrounded the house of Md. Ishaq and the surrounding area around 5:30 am. At that time, when Ishaq tried to escape after sensing the presence of the BGB, the members were able to immediately conduct a raid and arrest him.
Later, 50 bottles of Phensedyl were recovered from the detainee’s house during a search. During initial interrogation, the detainee admitted that the drugs were collected and stored at home for the purpose of smuggling to Myanmar.
The detainee is Md. Ishaq (26), father: Md. Yunus, mother: deceased Laila Begum, village: Hazampara, Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar.
The BGB said that their operation to prevent drug smuggling in the border area is continuing. It was reported that an attempt to smuggle drugs was foiled as a result of the BGB’s quick, efficient and strategic action.
