A total of 577 bottles of ‘Eskuf DX’ syrup, used as an alternative to Phensedyl, were seized in two separate operations.

Based on a secret tip-off, the patrol team of Sonamsjid BOP conducted these two operations in the early hours of today, April 14, 2026.

The BGB took a strategic position in front of the Mecca Scale in Pirojpur village on the Sonamsjid-Chapainawabganj highway. At that time, an ACCORD (2350 cc) private car was stopped and searched. A young man named Abdullah Al-Arafat Shuvo (26) was arrested along with 28 bottles of narcotic syrup from the vehicle. The arrested Shuvo is the son of the deceased Jasim Uddin of Prasadpur village in Manda upazila of Naogaon district.

Another patrol team of the same BOP conducted a drive in the area near the Dighi Par area adjacent to the mass grave in Baliadighi village. Sensing the presence of the BGB, the drug smugglers fled, but 549 bottles of ‘Eskuf DX’ syrup were recovered from there without an owner.

Mahananda Battalion (59 BGB) Commander Lt. Col. Golam Kibria, BGBM, BGOM confirmed the authenticity of the drive and said that legal proceedings are underway against the arrested accused, drugs and private cars.

He further mentioned: “BGB is following the ‘zero tolerance’ policy to protect the youth of the country and the next generation from the deadly clutches of drugs. Our strict stance and drive to eradicate smuggling and drugs in the border areas will continue in the future.”

It is noteworthy that in the last three months, the Mahananda Battalion has successfully conducted raids on the border and has been able to seize about 4,500 bottles of various intoxicating syrups, including 13 suspects.
