The candidates of the United Students Alliance supported by Chhatra Shibir have won all three important posts – VP, GS and AGS – in the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) elections.
On Wednesday (September 10), at around 8:30 am, Chief Election Commissioner Professor Dr. Mohammad Jasim Uddin officially announced the election results at DU’s Senate Building. Other election commissioners were also present.
The announced results showed that the United Students Alliance candidate for the VP post, Md. Abu Sadiq (Sadiq Kayem), received 14,042 votes. His nearest rival, Abidul Islam Khan of Chhatra Dal, received 5,708 votes. Independent candidate Shamim Hossain received 3,884 votes and independent candidate Umama Fatema received 3,389 votes.

The United Students Alliance candidate for the GS post, SM Farhad, received 10,794 votes. His nearest rival Tanvir Bari Hamim of Chhatra Dal got 5,283 votes and Meghmallar Basu of the Prevention Council got 4,949 votes.
Muha. Mohiuddin Khan, the candidate of the United Students Alliance for the AGS post, got 11,772 votes. His nearest rival Tanvir Al Hadi Mayed of Chhatra Dal got 5,064 votes. Ashrefah Khatun, the candidate of the Anti-Discrimination Students’ Parliament, got 900 votes.
Incidentally, 471 candidates contested against 28 posts in this year’s DUCSU election. Simultaneously, elections were held for 13 posts in 18 halls of parliament. There were 1,035 candidates competing against a total of 234 posts.
There were a total of 39,874 voters in Dhaka University DUCSU. Of these, 18,959 were female voters and 20,915 were male voters.
Voting was held from 8 am to 4 pm on Tuesday (September 9). The results were announced on Wednesday morning after the peaceful voting.

In addition, Israt Jahan Emu has been elected as the executive member of the Bangladesh Kuwait Friendship Hall parliamentary election. Israt Jahan Emu, daughter of Md. Anisuzzaman, journalist, organizing secretary of the Bangladesh Journalist Writers Unity Forum Central Committee, has been elected as the executive member of the Bangladesh Kuwait Friendship Hall parliamentary election. She is a daughter of Ghatail, Tangail district.
