Bengali New Year 1433 was celebrated with colorful arrangements in Katiadi of Kishoreganj. The whole area became festive around the traditional folk fair and rally organized by the upazila administration which started from Tuesday (April 14) morning.
At the beginning of the day, Upazila Executive Officer Shamima Afroz Marliz announced the official opening of the rally by hoisting the national flag through the national anthem at Katiyadi Government College ground.
Later, people from different classes and professions participated in the Baisakhi rally, decorated with colorful banners and festoons. Bullock carts, horse carriages and palanquins, lathibari games are displayed in the rally to highlight the Bengali heritage, which attracts the attention of the visitors present.
The rally circled the main road of the upazila. Local administration, teachers-students, political leaders and people from different classes and professions as well as journalists also joined the rally.
Assistant Commissioner (Land) Labani Akhtar Tarana, Katiadi Model Police Station OC Md Rafiqul Islam, Upzilla BNP General Secretary Arifur Rahman Kanchan, Katiadi Municipal BNP President Ashraful Haque Dadon, General Secretary Sajedur Rahman Sajal, Upzilla Chairman Association General Secretary Rafiqul Alam Rafiq, Katiadi Bazar Bankers Association President were present. Md Ilyas Ali, President of Katiyadi Upazila Press Club Syed Murchalin Darashiko and various leaders and activists were present.
The organizers said that a lively, joyful atmosphere is created in Katiyadi around Pahela Baisakh. Which helps to play a role in this traditional festival of Bengali to bring everyone together with new enthusiasm. This Bengali New Year has spread happiness among everyone.
