Bengali New Year celebrated in a joyful atmosphere at Nawabganj Government Women’s College

Bangla New Year 1433 was celebrated with enthusiasm and various arrangements at Nawabganj Government Women’s College in Chapainawabganj. A colorful day-long program was organized on the occasion of Pohela Baishakh in the college premises.

​At the beginning of the day, a colorful Baisakhi procession was taken out from the college premises. Teachers, students and employees of the college participated in it in traditional costumes. The procession circled the main roads of the city and ended back at the college premises.

​After the procession, a discussion meeting was held in the college auditorium. The president of the program was Professor Dr. Biplob Kumar Majumdar, the principal of the college, and delivered an important speech.
​Mr. Prakash Chandra Shil, the convener of the Bangla New Year Celebration Committee and the head of the History Department, spoke as a special speaker. As a special attraction of the program, Mr. Fahmida Khatun, lecturer of the Department of Philosophy, presented an article titled ‘Bangla New Year and Bengali Traditions’.

​After the discussion meeting, a pleasant cultural program was presented with the participation of the students. In this, the students of the college impressed everyone present by performing Baisakhi songs, poetry recitations and group dances.

​In their speeches, the speakers emphasized the importance of maintaining this festival of Bengali culture and wished everyone happiness and prosperity in the new year.
