Principal Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus has handed over the deed of three kathas of land in Purbachal to Mahir Sarwar Megh, the son of the deceased journalist couple Sagar Sarwar and Meherun Runi.
The principal advisor handed over the deed to Mahir Sarwar Megh at the State Guest House Jamuna on Thursday afternoon.
Journalist Sagar Sarwar applied for this plot in 2004 and was allotted it in 2005. Later, even after paying the full price in 2009, the previous Awami League government did not hand over the plot to Sagar Sarwar’s family. The current owners of this plot by inheritance are Sagar Sarwar’s mother Saleha Monir and Mahir Sarwar Megh.
At the deed handover ceremony of the plot, the principal advisor inquired about the progress of the investigation into the Sagar-Runi murder case. He said, “Such protracted investigation creates adverse reactions among the people, people become disappointed with the legal system.”
He ordered the concerned authorities to quickly complete the investigation in the discussed murder case.

Housing and Public Works Advisor Adilur Rahman Khan, who was present at the meeting, said that the current investigating agency, the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), has learned that many evidence has been destroyed due to the protracted investigation.
At this time, Megh presented a jersey and bag designed by him to the chief advisor.
Advisors Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar, Farida Akhtar and Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Chairman of the Capital Development Authority Engineer Md. Riazul Islam and Meherun Runi’s brother Nawazesh Alam Roman were present at the document handover ceremony, among others.
