A scuffle and fight broke out between two groups during a discussion meeting of the Rights Council in Saltha, Faridpur. The incident took place at the Rights Council office located next to the Saltha bypass road on Saturday afternoon (August 23), after which the leaders present calmed the situation.
It is learned that Farhad Mia, the general secretary of the Faridpur district branch of the Rights Council, and Faruk Fakir, the president of the Saltha Upazila Ganadhikar Parishad, are now MP candidates for Faridpur-2 constituency. But the banner of the discussion meeting had Farhad Mia election campaign – campaign teacher discussion meeting written on it.
When the matter came to the attention of Faruk Fakir’s supporters, they protested. At one stage, the supporters of the two groups engaged in a national fight.

Later, all the leaders present calmed the situation.
Mahfuzur Rahman Khan, the central joint general secretary of the Ganadhikar Parishad and a member of the higher council, was present as the chief guest. Among others present were Faridpur District Kon Odhikar Parishad President Farhad Hossain and District Finance Secretary Md. Firoz Sheikh.
Kon Odhikar Parishad Salta Upazila Branch General Secretary Abul Kashem Imran said that there was a scuffle and fight between the supporters of Kon Odhikar Parishad MP nomination aspirants Farhad Mia and Faruk Fakir from the two Faridpur constituencies over the writing of the name on the banner. The situation was calmed down with the mediation of central leader Mahfuzur Rahman Khan.
Later, the discussion meeting was concluded in a short format.
