Connect Bangladesh UK organizes Eid reunion and Independence Day celebrations in London

Eid Reunion and Independence Day were celebrated with due dignity at the initiative of Connect Bangladesh UK, an organization of Bangladeshi expatriates based in the UK. The event was held at the Ivy Venue in London at 7 pm on Monday (6 April 2026).

The event was jointly hosted by Mir Rashed Ahmed, Anjuman Rahman, Md. Ali Reza, Md. Masudur Rahman, Abdul Hannan Tarafdar, Md. Saifuddin, Nazrul Islam and Mamunur Rashid. The event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, recited by Abdul Hannan Tarafdar. Later, the national anthem of Bangladesh was played.

Special Eid songs were performed with the participation of children in the event, which created a joyful atmosphere among the audience present.

One of the attractions of the event was the honoring of freedom fighters. In it, the freedom fighters reminisced about their liberation war. Among the freedom fighters present were Abu Ahmed Khizir, Dr. Rahman R. Jilani, Wahid Alam Chowdhury, Dr. Selim Khan, Shamsuddin Fakir, Riazul Karim and Abu Zafar Muhammad Shamsuddin.
The main part began with the welcome speech of the organization’s president Abu Ahmed Khizir. Then, Secretary General Nasim Chowdhury thanked the guests present and highlighted the ongoing activities of the organization.

Leaders of various community organizations were present at the event. Among them, Anjuman Ara, Mir Rashed Ahmed, Shawkat Mahmud Tipu, Md. Abdul Hai, Mohammad Ali Reza, Councilor Syed Firoz Gani, Mohammad Saifuddin, Mamunur Rashid, Kazi Nazrul Islam, Md. Masudur Rahman, Dr. Selim Khan, Sumsuj Zaman, Mozammel Hossain and others spoke.

Barrister Monowar Hossain, Md. Islam, Helen Islam, Hena Begum, Hafsa Noor, Shakil Hasan (President, Bangladesh Press Club London), Councilors Faizur Rahman, Sujan Barua, Arshad Malek, Engineer Hasan Anwar, Lutfur Rahman and many others.

Representatives of various organizations including Greater Chittagong Association UK, Tangail District Association, Dhaka Association UK, Manikganj Association, Munshiganj Association UK, Sylhet Association UK, Greater Rangpur Association UK, British Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Bangladesh Italian Association, Human Rights Foundation and Sandwip Association UK participated in the program.

Later, dinner was organized for the guests. In the last part of the program, a pleasant cultural program was held with the performances of vocalists Tahsan Bappi, Sipu and Dr. Rubel, which fascinated everyone present.

In his closing remarks, the organization’s president, Abu Ahmed Khizir, thanked everyone present and declared the event a successful conclusion.
