A female garment worker died after being crushed under the wheels of a truck in front of Palli Vidyut Lasania in Kaliakoir, Gazipur on the Dhaka-Tangail highway. The deceased female worker is Monifa Khatun (32), wife of Roni Islam of Fatikkhali village of Ashashuni police station in Satkhira district. The deceased Monifa worked at Liberty Knitwear Limited Company.
On Sunday (February 8) morning, while jumping over the division to cross the highway, the female worker was crushed under the rear wheels of a Tangail-bound truck, killing her on the spot.
Eyewitnesses said that the deceased woman fell on the road between the front and rear wheels of the truck while crossing the division of the highway and was crushed under the rear wheels. The woman later died on the spot. Later, the police were informed and reached the spot and recovered the body of the woman.
Gazipur District Traffic Police Sergeant Shiblu arrived at the scene and informed the Highway Naojor Police Station. SI Shahin of Naojor Highway Police Station arrived at the scene and recovered the body of the female worker and seized the truck and took it to the police station.
SI Shahin of Naojor Highway Police Station said that upon receiving the information, they quickly went to the scene and recovered the body of the deceased and seized the driver of the accident and took it to the police station. Following the request of the relatives of the deceased, the body of the deceased was handed over to them. Legal action is under process.
