The Bangladesh Coast Guard has seized a foreign rifle, live ammunition and 70,000 pieces of Yaba during a raid in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar.
On Monday (May 11) afternoon, Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan confirmed this information.
He said that based on a secret tip-off, Coast Guard Station Teknaf conducted a special raid in the area adjacent to Leda Canal of Teknaf Police Station at around 3 am on Monday. During the raid, 1 foreign rifle, 1 magazine, 5 rounds of live ammunition and 70,000 pieces of Yaba were seized.
However, it was not possible to arrest anyone as the drug dealers fled towards the hills after sensing the presence of the Coast Guard.
The Coast Guard said that further legal action against the seized weapons, ammunition and Yaba is under process.
The Coast Guard media officer also said that such operations will continue in the future to maintain the law and order situation in the country and prevent drug trafficking.
