A unique workshop was held in Gaibandha to ensure sustainable agricultural development, safe food production and quality agricultural products. 71 dealers and retailers of the district actively participated in this workshop organized by BRAC Seed.
The workshop titled âSustainable, safe and quality food production through good agricultural practicesâ discussed in detail modern agricultural technology, safe seed use, proper fertilizer management and environment-friendly agricultural methods. Participants were given guidelines for improving the quality of agriculture through hands-on training.
Gaibandha District Department of Agricultural Extension Deputy Director (DD) Khamarbari, Md. Atiqur Islam was present as the chief guest at the event. Upazila Agricultural Officer Md. Rakibul Alam, Sadar Agricultural Extension Officer Md. Sohel Rana were present as special guests.
Also present at the event were BRAC Seed Regional Manager for Rangpur Region Md. Rashidul Islam, Quality Monitoring Officer Md. Nazmul Hasan, Junior Sector Specialist Md. Sakhawat Hossain, Senior TSO Md. Rezaul Karim, TSO Abdur Rob (Gaibandha), TSO Jannatun Naeem Sunan and BPO Mominul Islam.
The speakers said that in order to make agriculture sustainable in the present time, there is no alternative to using safe and high-quality seeds. At the same time, awareness among farmers and proper application of modern technology must be ensured. They also said that providing farmers with accurate information and quality inputs through dealers and retailers will bring positive changes in agricultural production.
The participants in the workshop said that such training programs will play an important role in increasing their knowledge and skills and they will be able to help farmers more effectively in the future. Along with this, 71 dealers and retailers were given gifts to fulfill the demand of Aman Dhanbeej sales last year.
The organizers of the event also said that such workshops will be organized regularly to ensure the food security of the country and transform agriculture into a more modern and profitable sector. They expressed the hope that through joint efforts, Gaibandha district will be established as a model for sustainable agricultural development.
