Horrific fire breaks out on Chattala Express train in Sitakunda, Chittagong

A fire broke out on the Dhaka-bound Chattala Express train in Bhatiari area of ​​Sitakunda upazila of Chittagong. The incident took place at around 6:30 am on Thursday (March 26) in the BM Gate area of ​​the upazila.

Fire service members quickly reached the spot on receiving the information and started working to control the fire. According to fire service sources, the fire started from the train’s power car and spread to an air-conditioned compartment nearby.

Kumira Fire Service Sub-Station Officer Ahsan Ali said that two units worked to control the fire and the situation was brought under control within a short time.
No casualties have been reported in the incident so far. However, locals said that at least two compartments of the train were damaged in the fire.

Eyewitnesses said that the train was travelling towards Dhaka. Suddenly, a fire broke out in one compartment and quickly spread to the adjacent compartment. Later, the fire service arrived and brought the fire under control.
