The house of a mason named Shafiqul Islam has been burnt to ashes in a fire set by miscreants in Ramganj, Lakshmipur. The incident took place late on Sunday night (February 15) at the house of Shafiqul Islam in the house of Najir Bender of Sameshpur village, Bhadur union No. 3 of the upazila. Shafiqul Islam is a mason by profession and a BNP party worker. It is learned that the miscreants set the house on fire and fled in the dead of night.
When the flames of the fire spread all around, Shafiqul Islam and his family members screamed, and people around the house rushed to the house and tried to control the fire with water, but the entire house was burnt down immediately. Rafiqul Islam said that he suffered a loss of about 5 lakh taka in the fire.
Earlier, miscreants also set fire to the house of Nur Hossain of the same village on Friday night. Nur Hossain Ramganj Bazar businessman and Jamaat activist.
In all these incidents, upazila, union and ward BNP and Jamaat leaders and activists visited the scene. They strongly condemned the incident and demanded that those involved in the incident be identified and brought to justice.
