Husband arrested for killing wife in Saltha

A wife named Marjina Begum (38) was beaten to death by her husband over a family dispute in Saltha, Faridpur. The murder took place in the early hours of Tuesday (September 2) in Rangrayekandi village of Sonapur union of the upazila. Police went to the spot and arrested her husband Bakkar Sheikh (43).

The deceased Marjina Begum was the daughter of the deceased Mochan Molla of Fursa village under Faridpur Kotwali police station and was the mother of three daughters and a son.

Police and locals said that a fierce argument broke out between Marjina and Bakkar in the early hours of the morning. At one stage, the wife and children threw Makkar out of the house. Later, Bakkar broke the tin fence of the house and entered the house and hit Medina on the head with a baton. Marjina died on the spot due to multiple injuries. Police arrived at the spot and arrested the murderer Bakkar.

Saltha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Ataur Rahman said that husband Bakkar Sheikh killed his wife Marjina with a heavy hammer due to a family dispute. Bakkar was arrested as soon as the news was received and Marjina’s dead body was sent to the morgue for autopsy. A case is being prepared in this incident.
