Rajshahi Correspondent:

Interns at Rajshahi Medical College (RMC) Hospital have gone on strike in protest against the recent attacks on interns and health workers at various medical college hospitals in the country, including Dhaka, Sylhet, Rangpur and Rajshahi.

The Intern Doctors Society of Rajshahi Medical College (RMC) has started an indefinite strike from 10:30 am on Thursday (January 22). The organization’s president Taukir Ahmed confirmed the matter.

The interns took part in a human chain in front of the hospital at 10:30 am. After the human chain, they submitted a memorandum to the hospital director. The memorandum highlighted several specific demands aimed at ensuring the safety of doctors.

The demands include taking immediate and effective measures to control additional relatives or attendants accompanying patients to ensure proper treatment, completely banning outsiders from entering the hospital without attendant cards, deploying 24-hour Ansar members in every ward to ensure security, taking immediate legal action against Ansar members who fail to perform their duties, forming a special ‘Rapid Response Team’ consisting of police and Ansar for the sake of security, ensuring a fair investigation and trial of all previous attacks, and taking legal action against those responsible, including removing the propaganda videos circulating on social media about the hospital’s medical services.
