Badarganj (Rangpur) Correspondent:
In Kutubpur Union of Badarganj Upazila of Rangpur, an allegation has been made against Union Jamaat Secretary Nayan Mia for withdrawing the allowance given by the Prime Minister in the name of the Pesh Imam of the mosque. It is learnt that the incident took place at the Jame Mosque of Dakshin Palikhia in Kutubpur Union of the upazila.
In this incident, Alhaj Maulana Abu Bakkar Siddique, the president of the mosque committee, filed a written complaint with the Deputy Commissioner and Upazila Nirbahi Officer on March 29. The upazila administration said that the matter is under investigation.
According to the complaint source, Maulana Mizanur Rahman has been serving as the Pesh Imam of the new Jame Mosque of Dakshin Palikhia for a long time. The process of including the names of Imams, Moazzems, Khadems, Priests and Sebayets in the 2026 allowance scheme announced by the government has recently begun.
Although the names of the mosque’s Muazzem Ayub and Khadem Ashraful were included in this process, the name of Union Jamaat Secretary Nayan Mia was included instead of Maulana Mizanur Rahman’s name as the Pesh Imam.
Later, when the mosque committee contacted the relevant authorities regarding the matter, as the name of the real Imam was not available, the matter came to light. They learned that Nayan Mia had listed his name by showing himself as the Pesh Imam.
Abu Bakr Siddique, retired superintendent of Chatra Ahmadiya Madrasa and president of Dakshin Palikhia Jama Masjid, said, “The government was asked for a list of Imams, Muazzems and Khadems. We provided the list. Later, we saw that the name of our real Imam was omitted. For some unknown reason, the name of Union Jamaat Secretary Nayan was included there. We were shocked by this. We do not pray behind this boy, he is not even our Pesh Imam. But why is his name here? We want a proper investigation into this.”
The mosque’s imam, Mizanur Rahman, said, “I have been leading the mosque since the beginning of its establishment. But suddenly Nayan included his name and withdrew the allowance. In this, I have been deprived of my just rights. I want a fair trial.”
Denying the allegations, Union Jamaat Secretary Nayan Mia said, “There is no Pesh Imam here. Everyone gave my name thinking who will be given the allowance. The one who complained is not the president. The one who is there is not the Pesh Imam, he is the khatib.”
Upazila Executive Officer Anjuman Sultana said in this regard, “I have received the complaint. It will be verified in the presence of public representatives.”
Rangpur Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ruhul Amin said, “The complaint was before I joined. A quick investigation committee will be formed and necessary action will be taken.”
It is worth noting that Jamaat-e-Islami’s Nayeb-e-Ameer ATM Azharul Islam is the member of parliament for the Rangpur-2 (Taragandj-Badarganj) constituency of the National Parliament.
