Colorful arrangements for two-day International Dance Day in Bangladesh Shilpakala

International Dance Day will be celebrated with the participation of more than 600 artists from about 50 dance groups organized by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy

On the occasion of International Dance Day on April 29, a two-day colorful program has been organized by the Music, Dance and Recitation Department under the management of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in collaboration with the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and on April 28 and 29, 2026.

The inaugural program has been organized at the National Theatre Auditorium tomorrow, April 28, 2026 at 5 pm. The Honorable State Minister of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Mr. Ali Newaz Mahmud Khayyam MP, will be present as the chief guest at the program and Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman, Honorable Advisor (State Minister Rank) – Policy and Strategy; Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Ministry of Cultural Affairs will be present as special guests.

The main speaker of the program will be Ekushey Padak-winning dance researcher and dance director Mr. Amanul Haque. The Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and poet Sheikh Rezauddin Ahmed (Rezauddin Stalin) will preside over the program. The welcome speech will be delivered by the Secretary of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Mr. Mohammad Zakir Hossain.

Tomorrow, Tuesday at 5 pm, a colorful procession will be held in front of the National Theatre Building with the participation of dhak-dhol players and senior and young dancers of the country.

On Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at 5 pm, the Honorable Minister of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Mr. Nitai Roy Chowdhury MP, will be present as the chief guest at the closing ceremony. The program will be presided over by the Honorable Secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs Mr. Kaniz Maula and the Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and poet Sheikh Rezauddin Ahmed (Rezauddin Stalin) will deliver the welcome speech.

22 groups will participate in the dance performance on the closing day at the National Theatre Auditorium. The groups will perform dances of different genres. The 2-day program will be open to everyone, said the Shilpakala press briefing authority.
