Jamaat leader Mizan arrested in Palashbari attack on police

Police have arrested a Jamaat leader named Mizanur Rahman Mizan (35) in a case filed for entering Palashbari Police Station in Gaibandha and assaulting 8 policemen including the OC.

Palashbari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Sarwar Alam Khan confirmed the matter on Friday afternoon, March 27. Earlier, the police station police and DB police conducted a joint operation in the early hours of the morning and arrested him from his house in Gridharipur village.

The arrested Mizanur Rahman Mizan is the current secretary of the professional department of Palashbari Upazila Jamaat and the son of Golam Mostafa of Gridharipur village. He was also the former Ameer of Palashbari Municipality Jamaat and the former president of Palashbari Upazila Chhatra Shibir.

It is worth mentioning that on March 25, some unruly leaders and activists of the youth division of Palashbari Upazila Jamaat went to Palashbari Police Station with a complaint letter and pressured the OC to take immediate action.

At one stage of the discussion with the OC, some unruly leaders and activists present beat up the OC and the police members. In this, 8 policemen were injured. In this incident, a case was filed with the police station, accusing 9 named persons and 11/12 unknown persons in the complaint of Palashbari Police Station.
