During interrogation of the arrested accused Md. Mobarak Hossain, it was learned that victim Tahmina Begum Fatima’s daughter, victim Sumaiya Afrin Rinthi, was possessed by an alleged jinn, and victim Tahmina Begum Fatima used to take her daughter to Ilias Huzur of Babus Salam Jameria Madrasa to have her hair done.
When she met accused Md. Mobarak Hossain there, victim Tahmina Begum Fatima asked the accused to come to her house and have her hair done. Accused Md. Mobarak Hossain went to the victim’s house several times and had her hair done. The accused had been coming and going to the victim’s house for approximately a month. On the day of the incident, at 08:30 in the morning, accused Md. Mobarak Hossain entered the victim’s house with an orange shopping bag and a black bag.
Then, he beat up victim Sumaiya Afrin Rinthi and sprinkled water on the house. He went out of the house at approximately 11:23 and returned to the victim’s house at 11:34 and saw victim Tahmina Begum Fatima lying in her room. Accused Md. Mobarak Hossain went directly to victim Sumaiya Afrin Rinthi’s room and tried to rape victim Sumaiya Afrin Rinthi. When victim Sumaiya Afrin Rinthi’s mother Tahmina Begum Fatima saw him and when she tried to stop the accused, the accused Md. Mobarak Hossain and Tahmina Begum Fatima fought.
A fight broke out. Later, accused Mobarak Hossain took victim Tahmina Begum Fatema to his room and strangled her to death by covering her with a pillow. Then he entered victim Sumaiya Afrin Rinthi’s room and tried to rape victim Sumaiya Afrin Rinthi again. When victim Sumaiya tried to resist, he strangled her to death by strangling her. Then accused Mobarak stole 04 (four) mobiles and 01 (one) laptop from the victim’s house and fled.
The stolen 04 (four) mobiles and 01 (one) laptop, mobile and laptop chargers were recovered from the accused. In addition, the orange bag with which the accused entered the victim’s house was recovered from the accused’s house.
The accused was hiding by changing his location and location in different places to avoid arrest. However, due to information technology, police tactics, professionalism and strong determination to suppress crime, the accused Md. Mobarak Hossain was able to be arrested in the shortest possible time. In a brutal incident like the murder of a Comilla University student and her mother, the Comilla District Police took quick action and was able to arrest the accused.
