Former BNP MP from Meherpur-1 constituency and member of the BNP National Executive Committee Masud Arun sent a message of greetings on the occasion of the 47th founding anniversary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).
He extended his heartfelt greetings and congratulations to leaders, workers, supporters and countrymen at all levels and paid deep tribute to martyred President Ziaur Rahman Bir Uttam.
Masud Arun said that on September 1, 1978, martyred President Ziaur Rahman established the Bangladesh Nationalist Party under the visionary leadership. BNP is entering its 47th year today with the commitment to protect the country’s independence and sovereignty, re-establish multi-party democracy and economic liberation. This is not just the founding anniversary of a party, but a reflection of the hopes and aspirations of the entire people of Bangladesh.
He also said that Ziaur Rahman was not only the proclaimer of independence, he was a successful statesman. Under his leadership, the agricultural revolution, industrialization, development of rural economy and the emergence of Bangladeshi nationalism took place, in a short time he put the country on a strong foundation.
Remembering BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, he said, Begum Khaleda Zia has played an uncompromising role in the movement to restore democracy, her leadership in the anti-dictatorship movement is unforgettable, she has been repeatedly imprisoned and tortured for democracy, she is currently seriously ill, I seek prayers from the countrymen for her.
Regarding the acting chairman of the party, Tarique Rahman, Masud Arun said, Tarique Rahman is doing politics for the welfare of the country’s soil and people, due to the oppression of the government, he is currently in exile, yet from afar he is working tirelessly to keep the party well-organized and is leading the movement to restore democracy.
