A memorial meeting and prayer mahfil were held in the capital Dhaka to pay deep respect and love to the memory of the patriotic Nawab of Bengal, Bihar and Orissa, Alivardi Khan. The event, organized on Friday (April 10, 2026), highlighted various aspects of his patriotism, justice and public welfare activities during his reign.
The speakers at the meeting said that Nawab Alivardi Khan was a unique ruler in the history of the subcontinent, who took a firm stand to protect the interests of Bengal even in difficult political situations. His ideals, honesty and foresight remain a source of inspiration for patriots even today. At the same time, the speakers mentioned that Alivardi Khan’s contribution is also inextricably linked with the struggling history of his grandson Nawab Sirajuddaula.
The event was graced by Syed Ghulam Abbas Areb, also known as Nawabzada Ali Abbasuddaula and known as the ninth descendant of Nawab Sirajuddaula. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of preserving the history of our ancestors and presenting it to the new generation.
In addition, the event was attended by eminent and famous personalities of the country. Among them, senior journalist Faizul Islam (dainik Ittefaq), internationally renowned journalist Farhana Nila (Sara Bangla.net), eminent legal expert Iqbal Hossain Bhuiyan and other eminent persons from various professions spoke. The speakers called for following the life philosophy of Nawab Alivardi Khan and emphasized the need for joint efforts to preserve the history and heritage of the country.
The event was organized by the Sammilit Deshpremi Team of Nawab Sirajuddaula Swadhinata Parishad (NSSP). The organizers said that through such events, the country’s glorious history will continue to be presented to the new generation.
Bangladesh Supporters Forum, US-based founder Clinton Howlader Powell, and UK-based Kaaba Foundation Chairman Faruk Chowdhury provided overall support from abroad to make the event a success.
Weekly Palashi, founded by the late industrialist, politician, and educationist Dr. Muhammad Fazlul Haque, served as the main media partner of the event.
Finally, a special prayer mahfil was held to pray for peace, prosperity, and welfare of the country, nation, and Muslim Ummah.
