A new committee of the Porsha Upazila Press Club, a journalists’ organization, has been formed in Porsha Upazila of Naogaon. Journalist DM Rashed has been elected as the president of this 9-member committee and Md. Shahidul Islam has been elected as the general secretary.
The newly formed committee has Abdul Mannan as the vice-president, Ismail Hossain as the joint general secretary and Md. Tofazzal Hossain as the treasurer. In addition, M. Roych Uddin, Mostakim Billah, Nayeem Uddin and Yusuf Ali are members.
Md. Mostafizur Rahman, the National Parliament Member of Naogaon-1 (Porsha, Sapahar and Niamatpur) constituency, welcomed the new committee of the Porsha Upazila Press Club. He said that the development activities of the Porsha Police Station, including drug eradication, prevention of child marriage and various disasters in the area, need to be properly highlighted in the media.
He also expressed hope that the new committee will play an important role in improving the quality of journalism in Porsha, increasing professional responsibility and presenting objective news. According to those concerned, this committee will play a helpful role in strengthening the media by increasing the unity and professional skills of journalists.
