The Honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Tarique Rahman, has expressed deep shock and sorrow over the casualties in the collision of a bus with a train at a rail crossing in Comilla. After the recent train accident in Bogra, many people lost their lives in a collision of a bus with a train at a rail crossing in Comilla on Saturday night. The Prime Minister has ordered an immediate investigation to find out the underlying cause of all these accidents.
He has already spoken to the ministers of the concerned ministries and the local administration several times about the accident. The Prime Minister has also instructed the concerned to ensure proper treatment of the injured. In addition to providing financial assistance to the families of the deceased, he also ordered to take exemplary legal action for the failure of those involved in these accidents.
It is worth noting that three committees have already been formed to find out the cause of the rail accident in Comilla. The Railway Authority has formed two investigation committees. The other committee has been formed by the Comilla District Administration. Each investigation committee has been ordered to submit its investigation report within the next 72 hours. Action has already been taken against some people for negligence of duty. Further action will be taken based on the investigation report.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman also expressed his condolences to those who died in accidents in Feni, Habiganj, Jamalpur and other parts of the country. Wishing the injured a speedy recovery, he directed the concerned authorities to ensure their proper treatment and provide them with necessary assistance.
In a statement today, Sunday, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said, these accidents are very painful and worrying at this joyful moment of celebrating the holy Eid. Every life is precious. Every death is an irreparable loss. I pray to Almighty Allah for the forgiveness of the souls of the deceased. I express my deep condolences to the bereaved family members.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said, the government is determined to ensure smooth travel and public safety. No laxity will be tolerated in this regard. He said, the ministry has been instructed to identify the weaknesses in rail crossing management, bridge safety and overall transport system and take urgent necessary measures to make them safe.
