Kurigram Correspondent:
A protest march was held in Ulipur, Kurigram, to protest the barbaric attack on central leaders and activists, including the president of the Gana Odhikar Parishad in Dhaka Paltan, former VP of Dhaka University, Nurul Haque Nuru.
The protest march was taken out from the Ulipur Upazila Parishad premises on Saturday (August 30) afternoon at the initiative of the Students, Youth and Gana Odhikar Parishad Ulipur Upazila branch. The procession circled the main roads of the city.
Led by the general secretary of the upazila branch, Abdur Razzak, more than a hundred leaders and activists from different unions of the upazila participated in the procession. They strongly condemned the attack through slogans and demanded the immediate arrest and punishment of the culprits.
The speakers said, âGana Odhikar Parishad is a democratic political party. Attacking this party means an attempt to silence the rights of the people.â They also said that democracy cannot be stopped by suppressing leaders and activists in different parts of the country.
Leaders present at the protest march warned of more stringent action if the attackers were not brought to justice soon.
