RAB’s innovative operation in Ramu, three women arrested with nearly 120,000 yaba pills

Three female drug traffickers have been arrested in a separate operation by RAB-15 in Ramu, Cox’s Bazar, along with about 120,000 pieces of Yaba. They were arrested in a separate operation conducted in the Buddhist Temple Road and Chaumahoni Bazar areas under Ramu police station on Saturday (May 16) afternoon.

The arrested are Laili Begum (26), Gul Bahar (35) and Hazera Khatun (65) of Jaliachari village in Naikshongchhari upazila of Bandarban. RAB said that they are members of an organized female drug smuggling gang.

According to RAB-15 sources, a special check post was set up on the Ramu-Naikshongchhari road based on secret information and a search was conducted. During this, the bodies of two female passengers on a suspected easy bike were searched and 38 bundles of Yaba wrapped around their bodies in a special way were recovered. Later, based on the information provided by them, another woman was arrested in a raid in the Ramu Chaumahoni Bazar area. 22 bundles of Yaba were also recovered from her.

RAB said that a total of 60 bundles recovered contained 119,950 pieces of Yaba. In addition, 3 mobile phones used in drug dealing were seized.

During initial interrogation, the detained women confessed to collecting Yaba from the border areas for a long time and supplying it to different parts of the country, RAB said.

A case has been filed under the relevant section of the Narcotics Control Act, 2018 in this incident and the accused have been handed over to Ramu Police Station.
