A laborer named Md Ismail Mollah was killed when a welding vehicle (Nasimon) used for construction overturned at Mollahat in Bagerhat. The accident happened on Saturday (May 16) around 2:30 pm on the old Dhaka-Khulna road in the madrasa area near the ferry ghat of the Madhumati river in the upazila.
The deceased Md. Ismail Molla is the son of A. Sabur Molla of the area adjacent to the ground of the taluk of Kulia village of the upazila.
According to local sources, after the construction work, some workers left for home in welding vehicles.
As soon as the car hit the road, a wheel came loose and it lost control and overturned. At that time, other workers jumped or escaped with minor injuries, but Ismail Molla was crushed under the car and seriously injured. Later, when the locals rescued him, he died on the spot.
After the incident, a shadow of mourning descended on the area. His burial was completed at Baraghat graveyard after the funeral on Saturday evening.
