The election of the Rajshahi Chamber’s board of directors for the 2026-28 term has been postponed at the last minute following the Election Commission’s (EC) directive.
The election of the Rajshahi Chamber’s board of directors has been postponed. The election was scheduled to be held on Thursday. The decision to postpone the Rajshahi Chamber’s election was taken at the last minute following the Election Commission’s (EC) directive.
An order signed by Mohammad Monir Hossain, Deputy Secretary of the EC’s Election Management-2 Branch on January 12, said that in order to keep the 13th National Parliament election and referendum activities free from any kind of influence, the elections of all types of professionals and various organizations in the country should be postponed until February 12, 2026.
The EC directive further mentioned that elections of all types of professional organizations, educational institutions, transport owners and workers’ associations, journalist associations, merchants’ associations, cooperative associations, trade unions and other organizations cannot be organized before the February 12 national election. These elections must be organized after February 12.
Following the directive of the Election Commission, the election of the Rajshahi Chamber’s Board of Directors for the 2026-28 term was postponed at the last minute. A notice signed by the Chairman of the Chamber’s Election Board and Assistant Commissioner (Land) of the Boalia Land Office, Md. Arif Hossain, officially announced the postponement of the chamber’s elections.
The notice said that although the election of the Board of Directors for the two-year term was scheduled for January 15, the chamber’s elections have been temporarily postponed in light of the directive of the Election Commission. The elections will be held later as per the revised schedule.
