A farewell reception was held for the (acting) Principal of Patharaj Government College, a traditional school in Boda Upazila of Panchagarh, Md. Altaf Hossain and Lecturer Rawshan Ara Begum.
Senior teacher Lecturer Ruhul Amin Liton delivered the welcome speech at the farewell reception organized at the college teacher hall on Thursday (February 26) afternoon.
Former Principal of Patharaj Government College Md. Yahia and the wife of outgoing Principal Altaf Hossain were present as guests.
Lecturers Marina Akhter, Majedul Islam Akash, Heromb Roy, Abdullah Al Mamun and others spoke at the farewell reception hosted by Lecturer Kamarum Monira.
At this time, the speakers highlighted the various contributions of the two distinguished teachers in building an educated society and wished them continued success. They also said that the teachers and students of Patharaj Government College and the local people will always remember the contribution of this teacher.
It is known that the retired outgoing principal Altaf Hossain joined Patharaj Government College on January 5, 1993 and retired on February 26 after successfully fulfilling his duties as the acting principal in 2025.
During his tenure at this school, the retired outgoing principal Altaf Hossain taught good manners and good education to all the teachers, students and guardians, practiced literature and culture, organized sports competitions and celebrated various national days and other days.
In his farewell speech, Principal Md. Altaf Hossain said, from the experience of a long working life, I am saying that mechanics damages the mind, no teacher or student should make the mind mechanical. Just as the body needs treatment to stay healthy, it is more important to treat the soul. If we teachers can heal our souls and purify ourselves, then a beautiful society and creative activities will play a positive role in building the future of Bangladesh. He also said, I am grateful to all the teachers, students and 3rd and 4th grade employees of this college for helping me to end my long working life beautifully.
At the farewell reception, the teachers and employees of Patharaj Government College gave away books, prayer mats and various gifts to the two retired teachers. Later, special prayers were offered for the good health and longevity of the country, nation and Principal Md. Altaf Hossain and Lecturer Rawshan Ara Begum. An emotional atmosphere was created during this time.
It is worth noting that Begum Selina Akhtar Hilary, Head of the Marketing Department of Patharaj Government College, will take over as the next acting principal.
