A top armed terrorist named Hasan Tarek alias ‘Chita’ (30) has been arrested in a joint operation by the army and police in Chandraganj, Lakshmipur. A foreign pistol and live ammunition were recovered from him in the operation conducted from the evening of Thursday (January 22) till late at night.
The law enforcement agencies said that the arrested Chita is known as one of the main associates of the notorious terrorist ‘Chhot Kausar’ of the area. The matter was confirmed by the joint forces early on Friday. The operation was led by Major Md. Rahat Khan.
The arrested Hasan Tarek alias Chita is the son of Abdus Sattar of Paschim Latifpur village of Chandraganj Union.
According to army sources, based on specific intelligence information, the joint forces, including Captain Arman Habib Apu of Lakshmipur Army Camp, a patrol team and the police, took up position in the area adjacent to the SP Mosque of Paschim Latifpur village. The breathtaking operation, which started at 6 pm, continued till 12:30 am.
At one stage, the joint forces surrounded Cheeta in front of the SP Mosque and conducted a search and seized 1 foreign pistol, 1 magazine, 5 rounds of live ammunition and 2 Android smartphones from his custody. After the operation, the arrested Cheeta was handed over to Chandraganj Police Station along with the seized weapons and ammunition. The process of filing a case against him under the Arms Act is underway. The joint forces said that such operations will continue to maintain peace and order in the area and eliminate terrorists.
Meanwhile, the news of the arrest of top terrorist Cheeta has brought relief to the area.
