Two kidnapped people rescued in Mymensingh, 5 members of extortion gang arrested

RAB-14 has rescued two abducted victims from Phulpur police station area of Mymensingh district and arrested five members of an extortion gang. The arrested are Mokhlesur Rahman Swapan (25), Mofizul Islam (52), Alep Hossain (32), Mosharraf Hossain (32) and Babul Mia (20).

RAB said that based on the complaint, it was learned that Md. Rezaul Karim (43), a tiler from Kurigram, came to Phulpur for tile work. When Rezaul Karim and his friend Md. Shakib (20) went to the house of Mokhlesur Rahman Swapan, who was previously known to them, members of the organized extortion gang detained them and beat them, intimidated and threatened them. During this time, the gang took away 20 thousand taka in cash and another 90 thousand taka through bKash. Later, more money was demanded.

After the incident, Rezaul Karim filed a case with Phulpur Police Station (Case No. 10, Dated 12 August 2025, Sections 143/342/323/385/386/387/34 Penal Code 1860) and submitted a written complaint to RAB-14 Mymensingh.

After receiving the complaint, a CPSC RAB-14 operation team conducted a raid in Phulpur area around 3 am on 12 August and arrested five members of the gang and rescued two victims. During this, one lakh ten thousand taka was recovered.

The arrested have been handed over to Phulpur Police Station for legal action.
