Upazila administration holds discussion meeting on May Day in Tanore

A discussion meeting was held in Tanor, Rajshahi on the occasion of International Great May Day and National Occupational Health and Safety Day at the initiative of the Tanor Upazila Administration of Rajshahi. The meeting, organized at the Upazila Parishad auditorium at 11 am on Friday (May 1), was presided over by Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) and Upazila Parishad Administrator Naima Khan.

Rajshahi-1 (Tanoor-Godagari) constituency MP and Jamaat-e-Islami Central Nayeb Ameer Professor Mujibur Rahman spoke as the chief guest at the meeting. He said that if fair wages, safe working environment and rights of workers are ensured, the country will move forward on the path of sustainable development. For this, he called on workers, employers and all concerned to work together.

Rajshahi District Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Maulana Abdul Khalek and Tanor Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) SM Masud Parvez spoke as special guests.

The meeting was attended by Maulana Alamgir Hossain, Ameer of Tanor Upazila Jamaat, senior leader of Jamaat and former Upazila Parishad Chairman Abdur Rahim Mollah, Convener of Tanor Municipal BNP Ekram Ali Mollah, Assistant Secretary of District Workers Welfare Federation Abdul Quader, President of Tanor Upazila Workers Welfare Federation Kazi Afzal, General Secretary of Tanor Municipal Jamaat-e-Islami Jewel Rana, and other leaders, officials of various departments of the upazila administration and local media personnel.

Earlier, in the morning, a colorful rally was taken out on the initiative of Tanor Upazila Workers Welfare Federation. The rally started from Tanor Thana intersection and ended at the Upazila Parishad premises. Later, a discussion meeting was held in front of the Upazila Parishad auditorium.

Professor Mujibur Rahman MP also spoke as the chief guest at the meeting held under the chairmanship of Kazi Afzal, President of the Upazila Workers’ Welfare Federation. Leaders of political, social and labor organizations of Rajshahi district and Tanor upazila participated in it.
