Police have arrested a youth with 200 grams of heroin during a raid in Godagari upazila of Rajshahi district. During this, another accused managed to escape.
According to police sources, on April 3, 2026, based on a secret tip-off, a raid was conducted under a jackfruit tree on the west side of the four-storey building of Mahishalbari Girls’ High School in Mahishalbari village of Godagari municipality.
The raid was led by SI (unarmed) Shafiuddin Ahmed of Godagari Model Police Station.
During the raid, Md. Osman Gani (29), father of Md. Jamir Uddin, village Mahishalbari, Thana Godagari, district Rajshahi, was arrested. During this raid, a total of 200 grams of illegal narcotic heroin kept in two white transparent polypacks (100+100) was recovered from him. The estimated value of the recovered heroin is around Tk 20 lakh, according to the police.
Another accused, Md. Saddam Hossain, escaped during the operation. His father’s name is not known, but his house is said to be in the same village.
A used OnePlus Android mobile phone and a 150 cc blue Yamaha FZS version-2 motorcycle with keys were also recovered from the scene and seized.
A case has been filed against the arrested accused in this incident at Godagari Model Police Station under Section 8(c)/41 of Schedule 36(1) of the Narcotics Control Act, 2018.
Police said that the operation is continuing to arrest the absconding accused.
