4 people including human trafficker arrested at Chapainawabganj border

The Chapainawabganj Battalion (53 BGB) has arrested four Bangladeshi nationals, including a human trafficker, in a raid in the Chapainawabganj border area.

BGB sources said that based on a secret tip-off, a patrol team conducted an operation in the border area under the responsibility of Bakchar BOP at around 7 pm on Wednesday (January 14). During the operation, four people, including human trafficker Md. Shahin, were arrested from Bakchar village in Char Alatali union of Chapainawabganj Sadar upazila, about 200 yards inside Bangladesh.

During initial interrogation, the detainees said that with the help of Md. Shahin, they were planning to go to Chennai province, India, illegally for masonry work. The detainees are: 1. Md. Shahin, son of Ebadul Islam of Bakchar village, Alatali, Chapainawabganj Sadar upazila, 2. Md. Tarajul Islam (31), son of the deceased Mansur Ali of Saral Durgapur village under Mithapukur police station in Rangpur district, 3. Md. Shafiqul Islam Munna (37), son of the deceased Belayet Hossain of Ghogamara Assam Colony village under Boalia police station in Rajshahi district, 4. Md. Mizanur Rahman, son of the deceased Tupu Ali of Chandpur Laholamari village under Shibganj police station in Chapainawabganj district.

The process of handing over the detainees to Chapainawabganj Sadar Model Police Station is underway to take legal action against them.

In this regard, Lieutenant Colonel Kazi Mustafizur Rahman, PSC, commander of Chapainawabganj Battalion (53 BGB), said, “BGB is always active in preventing any kind of illegal activities, including border security, in the area under the responsibility of the battalion. Such operations will continue in the future as well.”
