Dhaka Correspondent:
The chief advisor to the interim government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, is holding a meeting with seven political parties of the country today. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 5 pm at the state guest house Jamuna. The press wing of the chief advisor confirmed this information. However, it is not officially known yet which political parties will participate in the meeting.
Earlier, last Sunday, Dr. Yunus held separate meetings with BNP, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP). The focus of the discussions in those meetings was the current political situation, elections and future prospects.
The chief advisor clearly stated in the meeting that the national elections will be held in the first half of February next year. He said, “There is no alternative but elections. If anyone seeks any solution other than elections, it will be deeply dangerous for the nation.”
Political analysts believe that today’s meeting carries great importance in the political arena of the country. Because in addition to listening to the opinions of the seven political parties, the chief advisor will find a way to ensure everyone’s participation during the election period.
Meanwhile, the general public expects that through discussions, a fair, free and acceptable election environment will be created and the long political instability will end.
