The police have arrested an accused in a robbery case in Madan Upazila of Netrokona. He was arrested in front of the Government Haji Abdul Aziz Khan Degree College in Madan Municipality at approximately 1:50 am on Saturday (April 25, 2026).
The arrested accused is Md. Ariful Islam Arif (34), a resident of Madan Dakshin Para area. His father’s name is Nur Islam alias Nurul Islam.
According to the police, ASI (retd) Shakib and the accompanying force led by SI (retd) Faisal conducted a raid and arrested him. He is the accused in the case No. 16 of Madan Police Station, dated January 27, 2026, Section 394 (Penal Code).
Police sources also learned that there are several cases against the arrested Arif, including drugs, weapons, theft, robbery, Special Powers Act and Road Transport Act.
It is known that the robbery took place at the house of Police Inspector Md. Azharul Islam, working at the Naval Police Headquarters in Ward No. 3 of Madan Municipality, on the midnight of January 26.
In this regard, Madan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Hasnat Zaman said, “Regular operations are continuing against criminals by bringing them under the law. Arresting this accused in the robbery case is part of our ongoing operation. We are on the highest alert to maintain the law and order situation in Madan Police Station.”
He also said, “The police are following a zero tolerance policy to suppress crime. No criminal, no matter how influential he is, has a chance to remain outside the law. Our operation will continue to ensure the safety of the people.”
Madan Police Station informed that the process of sending the arrested accused to court is underway and the investigation of the case is ongoing.
