Awareness exchange meeting held with students in Akkelpur

An awareness exchange meeting was held with students in Akkelpur, Joypurhat to prevent internet misuse, cyber bullying, mobile game addiction, drugs, gambling, eve teasing, child marriage and violence against women and children.

The meeting was organized by Ujjwal Nakshatra Foundation, Akkelpur Unit, at Sonamukhi High School in Akkelpur on Saturday (August 31).

Akkelpur Upazila Executive Officer Manjurul Alam spoke as the chief guest at the event. In addition, under the chairmanship of Ujjwal Nakshatra Foundation’s Akkelpur Unit President Sadman Hafiz Shuvo, other speakers included Sonamukhi High School Assistant Headmaster Mosha. Munmun Ara, Akkelpur Police Station Deputy Inspector Bazlu Rahman, Ujjwal Nakshatra Foundation Central Unit Joint Convener Md. Amanullah Aman, Akkelpur Unit Vice President Sallim Mondal Rajan, Organizing Secretary Zakaria Akash and member Russell Rana moderated the program.

The chief guest of the meeting, Akkelpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Manjurul Alam, said in his speech that the biggest challenge of the present time is to keep the young generation on the right path. The internet should be used for knowledge and education, not to harm lives by misusing it. If students are committed from today, then it is possible to eliminate problems like cyber bullying, drugs, gambling and child marriage from the society.

The speakers said that students should be aware from now to develop future leaders. They also mentioned that the responsibility of every student is not only to keep themselves on the right path, but also to inspire others to follow the right path.

In addition to more than three hundred students of the school, teachers and members of the Ujjwal Nakshatra Foundation were present at the meeting. During this time, quizzes and public speaking competitions were organized for the students present, where 10 students were awarded. At the end of the program, a tree plantation was organized on the school premises by the Ujjwal Nakshatra Foundation.
