After the fall of the previous Awami League government, Asadul Alam Bappi, the leader of the Kishore Gang, became reckless. The area of Topkhana, Kazirbazar, Surma Market, and Qin Bridge, which crossed the Surma River, was the anarchy of his world of terror. Theft, robbery, and robbery were constantly happening in that area, and Bappi led all of them. There are multiple cases against him in the police station. He is also a criminal in the police records. Bappi has his own syndicate for various crimes including drug dealing, theft, and robbery. Along with that, he has his Kishore Gang. He always walked around with a knife in his pocket. The people of Kazirbazar and the surrounding areas are suffering because of him.
After all the crimes, Bappi is now imprisoned in Sylhet for killing RAB member Emon. Sujit Acharya filed a case with the Kotwali Police Station of SMP on Saturday (May 23, 2026) making Bappi the main accused in the case of Emon Acharya’s death.
Meanwhile, the killer Bappi is a resident of House No. 24, Mogaltula, Kazirbazar area of the city and the son of Abul Hossain, Organizing Secretary of Ward No. 13 BNP.
It is learned that Asadul Alam Bappi had been using his father’s party influence in the area after August 5, 2024, and had been committing various crimes including robbery and drug trafficking. According to police sources, there are multiple cases of rape, robbery and drug trafficking against him at the Kotwali Police Station.
Kotwali Police Station OC Khan Muhammad Mainul Zakir said that Bappi is a known criminal of Sylhet. He is involved in drugs and robbery. There are four cases of rape, robbery and drug trafficking against him at the police station. Bappi confessed to the murder of Emon and gave a confessional statement before the court judge.
Police said: On Friday (May 22, 2026), during a chase of drug addicts and robbers in the city’s Keen Bridge area, RAB member Emon Acharya, who was in plain clothes, came forward to assist the law enforcement agencies and caught Asadul Alam Bappi. During the scuffle, Bappi hit Emon on the left side of his chest with a sharp weapon, seriously injuring him. He was later rescued and taken to the hospital, where he died during treatment.
Immediately after the incident, the police arrested Bappi and recovered the blood-stained knife used in the murder from him. While fleeing after the attack, the accused Bappi entered a house in an area and tried to hold a child hostage with a knife. Later, the child was rescued in a joint operation by the police and RAB.
