Chittagong District Commissioner takes to the field to bring transparency in family card process

We are impressed by his behavior.” Chittagong Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Zahidul Islam Miah has announced a ‘Zero Error’ program with the aim of ensuring that there is no mistake in the government’s priority project ‘Family Card’ program in Chittagong. The data collection program has started by going door to door in Ward No. 41 of the metropolis on an experimental basis.

On March 1 (Sunday), the Deputy Commissioner himself visited several houses while inspecting the activities in different areas of the city and observed the progress of data collection. At that time, he warned the concerned that no negligence will be tolerated in data collection. During the inspection, he visited the house of retired sailor Nur Box in the Butterfly area of ​​Patenga and observed the data verification program. Nur Box said, I never thought that the Deputy Commissioner would personally come to the house and verify the information. We are impressed by his behavior.

The Deputy Commissioner said that this program has been launched to portray the correct picture of the social and economic condition of each family. Initially, financially weak families will be given priority. Later, all families will be brought under this program step by step. He told the information collectors that correct decisions are not possible without correct information. It must be ensured that no family is deprived of state services due to incorrect information.

During the inspection, the Deputy Commissioner explained the purpose of the project in simple language by observing the process of collecting information from a woman named Rokeya Begum. He said that the state will help financially insolvent families. However, it is important to provide correct information for this. About 900 workers are working at the field level in this pilot program conducted by the District Administration and Social Services Office. They are going door to door to collect information on the number of family members, income and expenditure and social status.

Local Government Department Deputy Director Golam Mainuddin Hasan, Civil Surgeon Jahangir Alam, Chittagong City Corporation Regional Executive Officer Pranoy Chakma and District Social Services Office Deputy Director Faridul Islam and other concerned officials were present during the inspection.
