Colorful Jubilee Festival of Tumilya Girls School in Kaliganj

The 125th anniversary (jubilee) festival of ‘Tumilia Balika Model Government Primary School’, a traditional school of Kaliganj Upazila of Gazipur, was completed in a very festive atmosphere and in an orderly manner. With the theme of ‘125 years of bond, tomorrow’s literature’, this colorful program organized throughout the day turned into a gathering of current and former students.

The program officially began on Friday (January 30) morning with the Holy Mass. After that, the mood of the festival spread in the school premises with the joy rally, hoisting of the national flag and the performance of the national anthem. In the second phase of the program, the Jayanthi Plaque and Jubilee Magazine were unveiled.

Archbishop Vijay N. of Dhaka Mahadharmapradesh was present as the chief guest. D’Cruz, (OMI). Addressing the students, he said, “When an educational institution completes 125 years, it is not just a building, but it becomes the bearer of the history and culture of a town. This school has not only spread the light of education, but has also set a unique example in building society and protecting inter-religious harmony. I hope, in the days to come, this institution will work as a craftsman to build people with morals and human values.”

In the speech of the special guest, Gazipur district primary education officer. Masud Bhuiyan said, “Quality primary education is the foundation of a nation. Tumiliya Girls Model Government Primary School has been playing a strong role in women’s education and social development for the past 150 years. Our aim should be to preserve the tradition of this government educational institution and take it further in line with modern education.”

Kaliganj upazila executive officer A.T.M. was present as guest of honor in the event. Kamrul Islam, Elias Mridha, Managing Director of PRAN Group and Subrata Bonifas Gomez, Assistant Bishop of Dhaka Mahadharma Pradesh. In addition, upazila education officer as a special guest. Local dignitaries including Golam Rahman were present.

In the morning session, recitation of Holy Quran, Gita and Bible were read as a sign of religious harmony. After that, the chief guest inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp, blowing peace doves and gas balloons. The cultural program of the afternoon included dance, song, theme song performance and ‘Mahua Sundari’ dance drama with the participation of current and former students. Besides, documentary screening and lottery draw add to the attraction of the event.

The event started with a welcome address by the present headmistress of the school, Sister Mary Trishita SMRA, and ended in a joyful atmosphere. Secretary of the organizing committee, Lucky Florence Koraiya, said that this event will be a shining example of the school’s tradition, education and social responsibility.
