Diploma engineers submit memorandum with 7-point demands in Joypurhat

As part of the 7-point demands of diploma engineers across the country, the District Diploma Engineering Student-Teacher-Professional Sangram Parishad has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Advisor in Joypurhat. The memorandum was handed over through the Deputy Commissioner on Monday afternoon.

The memorandum states that about 8 lakh diploma engineers and more than 4 lakh students in the country have been agitating for their just demands for a long time. Notable among these demands are – reservation of deputy assistant engineer/equivalent posts for diploma engineers, increasing the promotion rate from deputy assistant engineer to assistant engineer post to 50 percent, modernization of the Diploma in Engineering curriculum in an English version in a timely manner, and elimination of teacher shortage in TSCs including polytechnics and monotechnic institutes in a ratio of 1:12.

In addition, demands were raised for the division of field and desk engineering in the engineering workplace, a law banning the entry of B.Sc. engineers into cadres other than the engineering cadre, formulation of a manpower structure in a ratio of 1:5 according to the international engineering team concept, and creation of higher education opportunities for diploma engineers through credit transfer to universities.

IDEB Central Joint Member Secretary Engineer Abdul Baten, District President Engineer Rezaul Alam Siddique, General Secretary Engineer Khaledul Haque, District Convener of Sangram Parishad Engineer Bipul Kumar, Member Secretary Engineer Mostafizur Rahman and district leaders were present at the time.
