Memorandum submitted in Joypurhat demanding removal of those appointed during Awami Fascism

Aggrieved citizens have submitted a memorandum to the municipal administrator demanding the immediate removal of the officers and employees who were appointed on the master roll during the Awami fascism in Joypurhat Municipality. On Monday afternoon, Municipal Executive Officer (Acting) Abu Zafar Md. Reza accepted the memorandum on behalf of the municipality administrator.

The memorandum alleged that the then Mayor Mostafizur Rahman Mostaq had appointed officers and employees through various irregularities. He had also given jobs to party cadres including his wife, relatives, brothers and sisters, which was against the rules. The appointees have made the municipality a safe haven and carried out various fascist activities.

It also said that those who took a stand against the people during the movement opposing fascism on August 5, 2024, are still in their jobs. Therefore, they demanded their immediate removal to restore transparency and good governance in the municipality.

About two hundred people, including Delwar Hossain, Shafiqul Islam, Nurjahan Happy, Saidul Islam, Helal Uddin, Idris Ali, Nizam Uddin, were present among the aggrieved citizens.

In this regard, Additional Deputy Commissioner and Municipal Administrator Moh: Sabur Ali said that the matter will be discussed with the Municipal Council and action will be taken as per the rules.
