RAB-5, CPC-3, Joypurhat Camp has arrested an identified drug dealer with Tapentadol from the Bafalgari area of Punat under Kalai police station in Joypurhat district.
According to RAB sources, the name of the arrested person is Md. Shah Alam (38), father- Md. Lokman, resident- Punat Purbapara, Police Station- Kalai, District- Joypurhat. Based on intelligence information, RAB members have been monitoring Shah Alam’s movements for the last few days.
Based on secret information, on 24 August 2025, a special team of RAB-5, CPC-3 conducted an operation and arrested Shah Alam from the Bafalgari area. At that time, 80 pieces of Tapentadol tablets and a button mobile phone were recovered from him.
Arrested Shah Alam admitted during the initial interrogation that he had kept the recovered tablets with him for the purpose of selling and that he had been involved in drug trade for a long time. He further said that they have a drug trafficking syndicate, which is involved in such illegal activities.
RAB said that intelligence activities are continuing to arrest other members of this syndicate.
In the wake of the incident, a case is being filed against the arrested accused at Kalai Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act, 2018.
