A friendly football match was held at the Fazilpur Azad Sporting Club ground in Mirzabari Union of Madhupur, Tangail on the occasion of the 47th founding anniversary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). The match was organized by the supporters of retired Lt. Col. Asadul Islam Azad, who is seeking nomination from the BNP in Tangail-1 (Madhupur-Dhanbari) constituency, at 5 pm on Friday (September 5) at the Fazilpur Azad Sporting Club ground in Madhupur.
The friendly football match was played between Beribaid Union’s Gechua XI and Beribaid XI.
Madhupur Upazila BNP Fisheries Affairs Secretary Md. Nurul Alam presided over the meeting as special guests, including former joint convener of Upazila BNP Abul Kalam Azad, elder brother of retired Lt. Col. Asadul Islam Azad and former joint general secretary of Upazila BNP Ashraful Islam Masud.
At this time, members of Azad Sporting Club, leaders and activists of Azad support groups of Dhanbari and Madhupur and the local authorities were present. As soon as the game started, the playground was filled with spectators. The friendly football match ended in a festive atmosphere of the spectators. In the said game, Getchua XI scored 3 goals and Beribaid XI scored 2 goals.
Getchua XI won by a margin of 3/2 goals. At the end of the game, prizes were distributed among the winners. At this time, the guests handed over the prizes to the winners. The organizing committee thanked the players and spectators for ending the game in a beautiful and fair environment.
