A free seed and chemical fertilizer distribution program has been inaugurated among small and marginal farmers in Pirojpur Sadar Upazila to increase the cultivation and production of Aush paddy in the Kharip-1 season of the 2025-26 fiscal year.
The program was jointly organized by the Sadar Upazila Administration and the Department of Agricultural Extension at the Shaheed Omar Faruk Auditorium in Pirojpur Sadar Upazila on Monday (April 13) morning.
Pirojpur Deputy Commissioner and learned District Magistrate Abu Sayeed was present as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony.
In his speech, he said that the current government is an agriculture-friendly government and this government is giving more priority to agriculture. Despite being a small country, Bangladesh has been able to achieve self-sufficiency in food mainly due to the dedication of farmers and the proper planning of the government.
In addition, he mentioned the various steps of the government, including the Krishak Card, to increase agricultural production and urged farmers to use modern agricultural technology.
Pirojpur Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mamunur Rashid presided over the meeting, and Pirojpur District BNP Member Secretary SM Saidul Islam Kismat, Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Shawkat Hossain, District Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary Sheikh Abdur Razzak and others were also present.
In his speech, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mamunur Rashid said, your cooperation is needed to make Pirojpur Sadar Upazila a model upazila in the agricultural sector. I hope that Pirojpur Sadar Upazila will set an example for other upazilas in agricultural work. Farmers will use this incentive to work more diligently and I believe that all of you will build a successful and developed agricultural system together.
In order to increase the cultivation and yield of Aush paddy, high-yielding Aush paddy seeds and necessary chemical fertilizers were distributed among the listed small and marginal farmers of Pirojpur Sadar Upazila.
The agriculture officials present said that the timely distribution of these seeds and fertilizers will encourage the farmers and will play a helpful role in achieving the target of Aush paddy in the district. Other officials of the agriculture department and local farmer representatives were present at the event.
